The 45th General Election: What Has Been Shared
Links to the following information regarding the 45th General Election have been sent to all Teachers:
- Detailed information about when, how, and where to vote will be found through the Elections Canada website.
- Websites of the four (4) federal political parties represented in the House of Commons, and their respective and platforms.
- Student Vote Canada.
- A list of nominated candidates of political parties regionally represented in the House of Commons.
- ETFO Provincial’s Federal Election Key Messages.
Advance Polls are open April 18-21 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Specific information regarding advance poll locations can be found on the Elections Canada website (elections.ca).
Please note that the list of federal candidates for London West was inadvertently omitted from last week’s update. Here they are now:
- Shinade Allder (New Democrat)
- Adam Benni (Conservative)
- Arielle Kayabaga (Liberal)
- Jeff Vanderzwet (Green)
As part of ETFO Provincial’s campaign during this federal election, text messages will be sent to Members to encourage them to vote. The first message will go out this Wednesday afternoon prior to the advance polls that will be open from April 18-21. Another text message will go out on election day. In addition to these text messages, a voice message will also be sent to Members before election day.
Members are assured that these messages are indeed coming from ETFO. Questions should be directed to Federico Carvajal (fcarvajal [at] etfo.org (fcarvajal[at]etfo[dot]org)) at the ETFO Provincial Office.
Queen’s Park
Donna Skelly MPP (Flamborough-Glanbrook) was elected 44th Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. She is the first woman to hold this position in the history of the province.
Southwold Public School
Congratulations to the Southwold Public School Choir, who sang the National Anthem at the Toronto Blue Jays game on April 16. Well done!
A big thank you to all Elementary Teachers and their school choirs who do the same at sporting and other events throughout the district. Your hard work is acknowledged and much appreciated.
