Police Record Check

As you may be aware, in December 2025 the Government of Ontario amended Regulation 521/01 under the Education Act, creating a mandatory requirement for school boards to collect a new police record check every five years for all employees, including teachers. This is a province-wide legislative change and not a local school board initiative.

As a reminder, Friday, January 30 is a Report Card Writing Day, dedicated to the important work of assessment, evaluation, and reporting on student learning. Your collective agreement is very clear. Article L16.16(c) states: “For these Professional Activity Days designated for assessment, evaluation and report card writing, Teachers will have the option to work remotely.”
