Violence in Schools

The elimination of violence is elementary schools remains a top priority of the ETFO Thames Teacher Local.
We continue to call for an anti-violence action plan, and that an immediate step be taken to address disruptive student conduct to make schools safe and peaceful for all.
Thames Valley Education Foundation
The Thames Valley Education Foundation (TVEF) is a registered charitable organization affiliated with the Thames Valley District School Board established in 2001.
It operates at arm's length from the Board and is funded solely through community contributions.
- enhanced learning opportunities for students.
- intervention activities in response to child poverty
- recognition of excellence in learning and teaching through scholarships and bursaries.
There is no transfer of funds to provide operational support for classrooms and schools.
The optional/voluntary payroll deduction has also been in place for some time and is akin the optional/voluntary payroll deduction for the United Way. Teachers should not be pressured to participate in this, or any other payroll deduction plans.
Given everything that is going on with the Board, it is not surprising that the email sent to Teachers was seen by many as ill-timed, insensitive, and insulting.
